III. Information That We Share
Socialchair is a platform that efficiently facilitates hangouts amongst groups of friends. Users can post neighborhood specific plans, allowing others to view and organize accordingly. Whether grabbing coffee or spending time at local bars, in-app chats and a constantly updated feed make organizing activities immensely easier. To provide you with this social network, we collect your information and share it with others. Your privacy is important to Socialchair, so we’ve developed a comprehensive privacy policy (“policy”). By accessing or using this mobile application, you fully agree to this policy.
This policy covers:
Please note: This policy does not supersede or affect the terms of any policy or agreement between you and any third party (for example, Apple.) Please make sure you read and understand the terms of any privacy policies that you enter into with parties other than Socialchair, as those policies explain how your personal information will be used by such other parties.
If you have any questions about our privacy practices, please contact us at brandon@socialchair.co.
We collect certain information from you so that we can provide you with all of Socialchair’s services. These services include logging you in and allowing you to connect and communicate with fellow Socialchair users.
When you register for an account, we collect your full name, phone number, and birthday. We also upload your entire personal contact list onto our servers in order to determine whether you or a contact have an existing account with Socialchair. We then store your personal contact list on our server in order to notify you when people from your contact list join Socialchair. We also require that you upload a profile picture, and will ask for permission to send you notifications. In addition, we will have access to your location, but only while you use the app.
We use your personal information to help us create, develop, operate, deliver, and improve our services. Specifically, we use your phone number for identification purposes, and so that you can login using a personalized code--this streamlines the login process. We use your name and photo for display and filter purposes. All information will be retained in our system unless an administrator deletes it.
Lastly, we may use your personal information for internal purposes, such as auditing, data analysis, and research to improve Socialchair’s services and user communications.
Socialchair tracks when you access your account in order to improve recommendation performance. All information will be retained in our system unless an administrator deletes it.
As mentioned, we do store the personal information you provide to create the account. We will also retain the statuses and conversations you have with friends within the app. Those conversations will, however, be deleted from your own device after 24 hours, while your statuses will be deleted after 8 hours. We do not store anything else. Remember that anyone who reads information that you choose to post publicly can disclose it to other people, outside of our control and without your knowledge. Users can freely screenshot, for example, and share any content you post on Socialchair through third party sites like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Therefore, we recommend that you think carefully about the information that you choose to share on Socialchair’s collaborative platform.
III. Information That We Share
We may strategically contract with other parties to provide services to Socialchair, such as server maintenance or application development. If we share your information with these third parties, we will require them to keep your information confidential and to comply with this policy.
We may become involved in a merger, acquisition, sale, or other transfer of assets or ownership in the future. If so, the information you provide to us will likely be among the assets transferred in the transaction.
We reserve the right to disclose your personal information if required to do so by a subpoena or general law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) comply with the law or with legal process or government request served on us; (b) protect and defend our rights or property; or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of a user of the mobile app, or the public.
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information that we collect and transmit.
Using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), we encrypt all data transmitted between your device and our secure servers, meaning your information is safe at all times. Additionally, your Socialchair account and its personal information are protected by a passcode for your privacy and security. You may help protect against unauthorized access to your account and personal information by protecting your passcode and device appropriately.
We do not allow children under the age of 13 (“minors”) to use Socialchair; we do not knowingly collect information from minors. Further, we require users to provide us with their date of birth in hopes of effectively preventing minors from registering. If you know that a minor is using Socialchair, please contact us at brandon@socialchair.co. We will promptly delete minors’ personal information.
We may occasionally make changes to this policy and the ways that we collect and use your personal information. If we do, we will notify you before the new policy goes into effect by posting a notice on Socialchair. Please read and make sure you understand and agree with the new policy before its effective date. Continuing to use Socialchair after the effective date means that you agree that we may collect and use your personal information under the new policy. Again, your privacy is of utmost importance to us. Please familiarize yourself with this policy and feel free to reach out to brandon@socialchair.co with any questions or concerns.
